2016 Hello Kitty by OPI: The Brights

All right, I went for this trio first.
They called out to me more than the ones in the box set,
I guess bright, primary hues are just more my type.
My Pal Joey,
2 coats + Seche Vite TC.
Primary blue hue.
Your standard blue crème, always a good-to-have for nail art.
I'm not a HK fan so I had to google who Joey was.
Apparently Joey is an athletic blue mouse who's HK's bestie.
I guess only in HK world, a blue mouse would be seen as cute.
My Twin Mimmy,
3 coats + Seche Vite TC.
Sunny yellow crème.
OK. I never knew HK had a twin called Mimmy.
Mimmy apparently is differentiated by a yellow bow,
HK's the one with the red bow on the head.
Then what about all those other pink, blue, green bows I've seen?
More friends?
How do you HK fans get all this?
Anyway, My Twin Mimmy is a cheery, primary yellow.
As with yellow polishes, don't expect a stellar formula with this one.
It's decent actually, considering that yellows tend to be tricky,
but I still needed that third coat and the SV to level things out.
I don't have many yellows,
so this would be a good addition to my arsenal of nail art crèmes.
Super Cute in Pink,
2 coats + Seche Vite TC.
Ok, this one's only partly named right.
It is super cute plus its an awesome crelly,
but there's no way I'll call this pink.
There's purple in there for sure,
but I guess Super Cute in Purple-Pink won't make for a catchy name.
All right. That's it for now.
Hoping that the weather stays good,
so I can get more of these HK polishes swatched.
Stay tuned!

Nail Art Weekend: Snowflakes in Sunny Singapore

I'm a little disappointed with these photos.
The nail art looks a hell lot better in real life.
In fact, I adored them so much,
I refused to take them off for 4 days.
The thumb's the favourite.
Stamping is such a breeze now with my new Creative Shop stamper.
It makes a hell of a difference!
It's just too bad that where I work now,
there really isn't any decent spot to take nail pics.
Skyscrappers abound and too many people walking around.
And that's the main reason why it's become hard to keep up with posts now.
I'm limited to weekend mornings.
If I have something on or the weather refuses to co-operate,
that's it.
Nah-dah. No pictures.
Unfortunately, this didn't make it to the weekend...
Items used:
OPI I Cannoli Wear OPI,
sponged glitter gradient with OPI Super Star Status.
Stamping done with Konad Blue and Moyou London Festive Collection plate #03.

Blobs of Poppies

I'm all for simple nail art.
As it is, some days I don't even get to change my manicure,
so having time for complex or effortful nail art is now a luxury.
Hence these days,
I opt for nail decals, nail wraps,
or simple techniques that don't require much from me.
For example,
today's feature manicure just required an additional couple of minutes
on top of what was usually done for a normal plain paint job.
I thought these blobs looked like abstract poppies.
Simple but pretty neat.

Preview of the OPI Hello Kitty Box Set

I'm not a Hello Kitty fan,
but when I laid eyes on this,
I simply threw my card at the cashier and demanded for one.
(Okay, less dramatic than that but still, I didn't resist)
I haven't seen a box-display set that's as adorable as this.
This is how the outside of the box looks like.
And what you'll see when you open the box.
You'll have to assemble the display yourself,
and the panels are sealed in plastic wrap.
There are 4 panels for the display,
and you'll have to remove the black cut-out parts to create the windows for layering.
Word of caution:
The plastic wrap sealing the panels are quite hard to remove.
If you have to use scissors or a pen-knife,
make sure you do them on the black cut-out parts.
(That's the middle black portions in case you don't get me)
This way, you won't be like me and get a scratch mark on one of the panels.
This is how it looks like after it is assembled.
Adorable right!
Now that Christmas is right round the corner,
it'll be the perfect gift set too for your friends who are HK fans!
And these are the polishes in the HK collection.
Well, afterall, this is a nail polish blog,
I gotta give them some spotlight right?

From left to right:
Kitty White,
Let's be Friends!,
Look at my Bow!,
Starry-Eyed for Dear Daniel,
5 Apples Tall,
and Never have too Mani Friends!
And there are 4 others not in the box set.
Again, from left to right:
Charmmy & Sugar,
Super Cute in Pink,
My Twin Mimmy,
and My Pal Joey.
I've been warned that some of these polishes might be recycled colours.
At first glance, yes, some of them do look familiar.
But hey, if you're a HK fan,
you're probably already sold on the box-display isn't it?
