June's Haul

So, my Relapse Prevention (RP) Plan failed completely and miserably.
I hauled like crazy this June.
So much for a low buy:
I found Model's Own Speckled Egg Collection at our local drugstore Guardian's.
4 of them followed me home thereafter:
Swan, Magpie, Duck and Dove.
Found the Cosmoprof OPI exclusive on someone's Store envy,
and couldn't resist:
OPI Feel the Mo-heat-oes Green.
Bought the other 2 OPIs during lunch break one day:
OPI Push and Shove (yeah, I'm finally caving in on this),
and OPI Green on the Runway
I find Revlons super expensive in Singapore.
The normal retail price for a Revlon would have been SGD$12.90.
Special collections are usually priced higher than that.
And my US friends can pay like USD$2!

So when Revlons were at Buy 1 Get 1 Free at the recent Watsons sale,
I jumped to get them.
Unfortunately, there weren't many colours at the Watsons I was at,
so I only managed to bring 2 home:
Trendy and Chic.
Then one night, I saw this really pretty polish on Mei Mei's Signature's fb,
and knew I had to get it:
Mei Mei's exclusive (LE) Pretty & Polished Pretty 1.0
Last but not least, a trio from Tony Moly:
GR02 Fruits Cereal, GR11 Moon Light, and SH05 Step Blue.
I'm still waiting for nail mail from Llarowe and RBL.
And I had to stop myself from shopping on Moyou London or Born Pretty Store for more nail art stuff.
Man... I really need to re-work my RP Plan.

World Cup 2014: Animal Oracle

How many of you remember the animal oracle who captured worldwide attention
after making several accurate predictions in the 2010 World Cup?
Google did.
And I adored their image so much,
I took a screenshot and attempted to translate it onto my nails:
Sorry, pictures were taken after a rainy morning.
Paul the Octopus in heaven,
attempting to make the prediction for the game between Belgium and Algeria.
Items used:
Glitter Gal Light as a Feather,
OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls,
acrylic paints,
and a rhinestone star metal stud.

World Cup 2014: Yet another Brazilian Marble

I did say I wasn't too pleased with my earlier water marble didn't I.
So, I tried another marble again,
using the Brazil Collection OPIs that's been featured.

Only this time, I marbled it using a plastic sheet.
Ok, still not my cup of tea.

World Cup 2014: Advert in-between matches

While waiting for half-times,
or in-between matches,
there's this particular TV advertisement that would always catch my eye.
The ad has an orange background with leaves and branches at both sides,
giving off an Amazon rainforest vibe.
And there'll be a soccer ball right smack in the middle.
For some strange reason,
I find that damn ball mesmerizing
The reason why I was so transfixed?
I thought I could translate that onto my nails!
Ok, so I didn't have stamping plates with images of tree-like leaves,
but otherwise,
I think it's a decent pass-off of the advert.
Items used:
OPI Toucan Do It If You Try,
Konad Green stamping polish,
Bundle Monster plate no 324
and a football water decal.

World Cup 2014: OPI Brazil Collection Part 2

My sincere apologies,
the World Cup has interfered with blogging.
Yeah. I know.
he irony of having a theme week on it.
So since it was such a dismal theme week,
I'm going to extend it for another week.
I'm starting to get used to the rhythm of staying up to catch the games
and then still making it to work,
so hopefully this would be a much better (2nd chance!) theme week.
So, here's the last 2 of my picks from OPI's Brazil Collection:
OPI Amazon... Amazoff,
2 coats + 1 coat HK Girl TC.
Greenish-teal base with a very subtle, shimmer that gives it an almost pearlized finish.
To be honest, when I was browsing through online swatches,
I thought that Amazon... Amazoff would be my favourite.
Turns out its the least preferred one of all.
The colour does remind me of the Brazil flag,
and that would have been a really pretty colour.
But why the hell OPI has to go toy with such a brazenly faint shimmer?
Oh and it stains the nails.
Even with 2 coats of basecoat.
OPI Toucan Do It If You Try,
2 coats + 1 coat Seche Vite TC.
Coral orange crème.
Love this one.
A bright and simple crème.
Nothing fancy to detract the appreciation of a pretty colour,
unlike some earlier silly barely there shimmer.
Ok, I am a wee bit interested in some of the other crèmes now in the Brazil Collection. (Live.Love.Carnival and Don't Bossa Nova Me Around, I'm looking at you!)
Haven't really decided if I'm going to get them,
but I think I'm getting close to giving in.

World Cup 2014: Go! Goal! Spain!

For the past few years,
everytime there was a World Cup or a European Cup,
I would make sure I sport a red and yellow manicure in support of my favourite team.
So needless to say,
I have to do it again this time round.
Well, to be honest, I'm not expecting Spain to defend their title again this year.
Not when its practically almost the same team 6 years ago.
But even though they were thrashed in their opening game,
I'm still rooting for them.
Heh. I still like the game they play.
Base colour for the nail art:
OC02 from Tony Moly,
4 coats + 1 coat Seche Vite TC
Canary yellow crelly.
I think the only reason why I have this bottle,
was because at one stage,
I was looking for the perfect yellow for nail art.
I don't see how otherwise I would get a yellow that looks horrid on me.
And a 4 coater to boot!
Though it does look perfect for a Spanish yellow,
and it goes awfully well with OPI's Vodka and Caviar.

World Cup 2014: OPI Brazil Collection Part 1

Of course,
I'll take this chance to wear the new polishes I got from OPI's Spring 2014 Brazil Collection:
OPI Scores a Goal!
2 coats + 1 coat Seche Vite TC
Raisin crème that was butter smooth to apply.
I bought this initially because of the name.
I mean what else could be a more apt polish name for the World Cup?
But I didn't expect to like this one so much.
In fact, right after I put this on,
I decided that I needed to have it as a pedicure as well!
Where did Suzi's Man-Go?
2 coats + 1 coat Seche Vite TC
Mango-orange crème.
If I bought polishes only based on the names,
I would have never have picked this one up.
Well, its a good thing that I was intrigued by the mango-orange tone.
I don't usually take well to such colours,
but this one wasn't too bad on me.
And definitely a good crème to have around for nail art.
